“Is Shuri The New Black Panther” – New Trailer Pops The Question

Marvel Studios just got its fans more excited after dropping a new trailer for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie. The new trailer reveals quite a lot of exciting details, some of which includes Namor’s flight, Ironheart’s suit and a new Black Panther. “Is Shuri the new Black Panther?”, this is the question that lots of Marvel fans are now asking after seeing the new trailer.

 

The new Black Panther trailer starts off with a scene showing Shuri holding the Black Panther helmet, the one T’Challa helmed. Shuri, while wearing a veil, walks with her mother (the Queen of Wakanda) for some sort of ceremonial practice. We’d talk about this interesting detail further down this article. The trailer also shows the iconic large mural of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, which we’ve seen in the first trailer. This mural is actually a tribute to King T’Challa’s absence in the movie and also Chadwick’s death in real life.

Based on what we’ve seen, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will take place in a post-Blip setting. The happenings and events of the movie are after Thanos’ snap with the Infinity gauntlet. T’Challa’s absence is due to this snap, he is part of the unlucky individuals to be turned to dust in the Avengers: Infinity War movie. If we calculate it right, then this movie should be taking place around the year 2023 or even 2024 in the MCU.

 

Namor’s Flight in The New Black Panther Trailer

In the first trailer, we did not see any scene showing Namor’s flight. Many fans asked questions concerning this little-but-important detail. In the new trailer, we get to see Namor flying around for a couple of seconds. In case you do not know, Namor flies with the little wings he has on his ankles. They are not to be underestimated though, the Sub-Mariner can fly at great speeds using these little wings.

In the trailer, Namor seems to be dodging beams shot at him from some Wakandan airships. Some netizens have even praised Marvel Studios for paying attention to the little leaps he makes as he glides through the air.

 

Ironheart Suit In The New Trailer

At around December 2020, DisneyPlus announced that there’d be a Ironheart series coming soon. August 2021, reports announced that Dominique Thorne would be playing Riri Williams in the upcoming Black Panther 2 movie. The first trailer also showed a little part out of what seemed to be her suit-making montage. Although, we may not get to see the iconic she has in the comics, it still gives us hope.

 

The trailer shows Riri making her first flight with a suit that seems a bit big like Tony Starks first suit in the MCU. This suit can fly and if you look well, you can also count up to 6 thrusters on the suit. Tony’s Mark I had limited flight capabilities and didn’t have this much thrusters.

We can’t wait to see Thorne wonderfully playing as Tony Stark’s successor.

 

Shuri May Be The New Black Panther

At the end of the new trailer, we get to see a superhero landing by a new Black Panther. This Black Panther’s suit has a bit of gold on it like Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger suit. It is definitely vibranium, it’s a female underneath it but what we don’t know yet is identity of that person. Many fans and lovers of the MCU movies have stated that it may be Shuri, Nakia or even Okoye. The next paragraph explains why we think Shuri may be the new Black Panther.

 

Earlier, we talked about Shuri and her mother in what seemed to be a ceremony. In the new trailer, she’s wearing a veil and holding the iconic helmet. This ‘ceremony’ might actually be where Shuri would be announced as the new Black Panther to the people of Wakanda. Thus, the reason for her wearing a veil, something to hide her identity before she’s later announced.

We may be wrong or right, but one thing that is for sure is that we would get to see a woman as the new Wakandan hero. This is just like what played out in the Black Panther (2009) comic books. After Doctor Doom attacked T’Challa, his wife (Queen Ororo) nominated Shuri as the next Black Panther. We do not know of we may get to see Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie but we’re a little bit optimistic about a cameo.

New Black Panther 2 Trailer

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released on 11th of November, 2021. Cast for this movie include: Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Winston Duke, Dominique Thorne, Winston Duke and many others.
