Popular Harley Queen actress, Margot Robbie, has finally reacted to Lady Gaga being cast as the comic-villainous character in Joker 2. When the announcement concerning Lady Gaga as Harley Queen was made, there were lots of talks about it. Margot Robbie has now addressed the elephant in the room.
Back in December 2014, Warner Bros. announced Margot Robbie alongside actors like Will Smith, Jai Courtney and Jared Leto, as the main cast for the first Suicide Squad movie. The casting was well received by lots of fans and some of them were focused on Robbie as Harley Queen. Suicide Squad came out theatrically in August 2016 and fans were not disappointed. The movie made heads to turn, lots of movie lovers trooped into cinemas to watch it. The Suicide Squad movie garnered over 740 million USD at the global box office.
Most viewers liked Robbie as Harley Queen and they commended how well she played the insane character. On the other hand, Jared Leto who played as Joker (Harley’s lover), didn’t get positive reviews on his character. Many felt he did not execute the role of Joker quite well. So, when Joaquin Phoenix was cast as Joker in 2018 for the Joker movie, everyone was excited for it. DC fans wanted to see a different joker, they wanted to see another wonderful performance of the character. Since Heath Ledger’s excellent role as Joker in The Dark Knight, people have been waiting for another Joker.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker was well received, it also earned him an academy award for best actor. The Joker movie raked in over 1 billion USD worldwide. Now, we’d soon be having a second Joker movie with Lady Gaga as Harley Queen.

In early August, Lady Gaga decided to shake the internet a little bit as she shared a short video concerning Joker 2. The pop icon shared the quick teaser via her Twitter page and thousands began to troop into the comments section. The teaser revealed that Phoenix will be reprising his role as Joker while she’d be his Harley Queen. The video also revealed the release date and the movie’s name, Joker: Folie à Deux. This iteration will also be a musical and this, including Gaga’s casting, has gathered lots of mixed reactions.

Margot Robbie, in a recent MTV News interview, talked about Lady Gaga as Harley Queen. She revealed that she was indeed happy with the announcement and thinks that Gaga will something incredible with it. She discussed on how she hopes that the Harley Queen character would be more sought after by many actors. In her words:
“It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters that always gets passed from great actor to great actor”.
