‘Perfect Strangers’ Creator, Dale McRaven – Bio, Death, Children and More

Dale McRaven, the creator of iconic shows like Mork & Mindy and Perfect Strangers has passed on. According to several reports, McRaven died on 5th of September, he was 83 years old.

 

If you were once a fan of the old American sitcom, Perfect Strangers, then this should come as quite a sad news. The Emmy-nominated TV Creator and writer actually died due to lung cancer complications at his home in Porter Ranch, California. David McRaven, his son, confirmed Dale McRaven’s death to the Variety news media.

 

Dale McRaven now rests at the Turner & Stevens Live Oak Mortuary & Memorial Park in Monrovia. He’s survived by David (his son), Renee (daughter), his grandkids, Ruth (daughter-in-law), nephews and nieces and also The Mighty Kong (his pet yorkie).

 

Dale McRaven Bio

Dale McRaven was born near Pulaski town, Illinois, on the 5th of March, the year 1939. He had five siblings and grew up with all of them in Arizona. His first job in the entertainment niche was with NBC’s The Joey Bishop Show. Danny Thomas and Louis F. Edelman created the show. It ran for 4 seasons (123 total episodes) from September 1961, to April 1964.

 

McRaven’s prosperous TV career actually started in 1964 when Garry Marshall hired he and Kleinschmidt. He and Carl Kleinschmidt, a fellow writer, worked together on The Dick Van Dyke Show. The show ran for 5 seasons (158 episodes) on CBS from October 3, 1961 to June 1, 1966. It got nominated for 25 Primetime Emmy Awards and went home with 15 wins.

Other works he and Kleinschmidt worked on include: Good Morning World, That Girl, Gomer Pyle: U.S.M.C., and Hey, Landlord.

 

Later on, at around 1974, McRaven started producing and writing without Carl Kleinschmidt’s partnership. This was when he got to work on The Betty White Show and Angie. He also co-produced another ABC sitcom, The Partridge Family. The show ran for just 4 seasons (96 episodes in total) from September 25, 1970, till August 24, 1974.

 

The Perfect Strangers show created by Dale McRaven himself, started in 1986 with stars like Lise Cutter, Bronson Pinchot and Mark Linn-Baker. It ran for 8 awesome seasons (150 episodes in total) from March 25, 1986, to 6th of August, 1993. He retired from Tv and entertainment when the show ended and faced wildlife and landscape photograph.

 

Other outstanding works from McRaven are: The Odd Couple, Mork & Mindy, The Texas Wheelers and many others. His contribution to the entertainment sector will forever be appreciated. He truly had a great impact on TV, series and sitcom productions, we hope he rests well.
